Krieg DeVault is deeply saddened by the tragic death of George Floyd and the many other lives lost so unnecessarily. Our firm denounces all forms of racism, and we recognize that we cannot remain silent in the face of intolerance and inequality. For far too long, Black people and other marginalized groups have been denied fair access to political, social, and economic opportunities.
We also recognize that, as legal professionals, we have a higher calling to promote social justice and equality and to fight racism with words and actions. To this end, Krieg DeVault’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee has launched the “KD Listen. Learn. Engage.” initiative. Through this initiative, we promise to listen by encouraging internal and external discussions on the issues of racism, inequality, and injustice. We promise to learn by promoting tangible resources that foster a deeper understanding of the systemic racism and the legal injustices plaguing our Nation, as well as other challenges related to bias and prejudice. We promise to engage by supporting the Black community and other marginalized groups in our communities through community service, financial investment, and by advocating for the dignity, respect, and safety of all. We promise to continue to explore new ways to listen, learn, and engage on these important community issues.
Krieg DeVault remains steadfastly committed to supporting justice, opposing racism, and promoting the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We stand in solidarity with our colleagues, our clients, and our communities in unequivocally affirming that Black lives matter.
In solidarity,
