Krieg DeVault is pleased to announce that long-time firm attorney Deborah J. Daniels has been named to the Indianapolis Business Journal “IBJ” Media’s inaugural Indiana 250 Listing. The Indiana 250 Listing honors the state’s most influential and impactful business and community leaders, representing public and private companies, law firms, universities, not-for-profits, government and community organizations.
Ms. Daniels’ community impact has been felt for decades across numerous legal and civic platforms, including serving as a co-founder of Coburn Place Safe Haven in Indianapolis, serving as past President of the Sagamore Institute, and currently sitting on several not-for-profit boards including the United Way of Central Indiana, which she chairs, Eskenazi Health Foundation, and the University of Indianapolis, to name a few. She served as Krieg DeVault’s Managing Partner from 2015-2018. She conducted a landmark internal review of policies and practices of USA Gymnastics in 2017, recommending significant changes in governance and culture in the wake of public reports of massive athlete sexual abuse. She previously chaired a committee to propose revisions to the Indiana criminal code on behalf of the Indiana Judicial Center, and she currently serves as co-Vice Chair of the Indiana Supreme Court Commission on Equity and Access in the Court System.
The Indiana 250 list was compiled by the executives, editors and newsroom staffs at IBJ Media’s three news brands — Indiana Lawyer, Indianapolis Business Journal and Inside INdiana Business — after a monthslong process that included reviewing nominations, researching Indiana organizations and interviewing community leaders across the state.
IBJ Media CEO Nate Feltman said in a letter he wrote in the Indiana 250 magazine that most of the people on the influential list have been involved across business and their communities. He said the honorees are “using their influence and experience in business to help foundations, arts organizations, economic development groups and more do their jobs even better.”
“We want to celebrate the work of these outstanding Hoosiers — including those who have spent entire careers serving the state and its people and those who are just getting started but are already making an impact,” Feltman wrote.
