Information Blocking and the Impact on Your Practice
Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from noon - 1:00 p.m. EDT
*Approved for 1 CLE Hour
This webinar will review the information blocking rules, which become effective and enforceable on April 5, 2021. The information blocking rules apply to all health care providers and will substantially impact the way that health care providers and health care entities handle electronic health information, including the manner in which a provider must respond to a patient’s request for access to their health information. This webinar will focus on recent guidance from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology on practical issues that impact all health care entities. These issues include utilization of patient portals, how and when lab results should be sent to patients, the applicability of the information blocking rules to business associates, and the impact of the information blocking rules on special records, such as mental health records and psychotherapy notes. Finally, this webinar will offer practical tips for documenting compliance and best practices in organizational policies.
