Amy Levander Named Executive Director of Hoosier Women Forward
May 16, 2019
Krieg DeVault is pleased to announce that Executive Director of Governmental Affairs and Chair of Krieg DeVault’s Governmental Affairs and Public Advocacy Practice Group, Amy Levander, has been named Executive Director of Indiana-based Hoosier Women Forward. Levander, a founding member of Hoosier Women Forward, will now lead the growth initiatives of the organization while continuing to serve the lobbying and advocacy needs of the firm’s governmental affairs clients.
Formed in January 2018, Hoosier Women Forward is a political and civic leadership training program designed to empower Democratic women to become more active participants in politics and leaders in their communities. Its mission is to increase the number of Democratic women in elected and appointed government office and in positions of influence in the community and private sector. Each year, a group of twenty (20) to twenty-five (25) outstanding Democratic women are selected through a competitive application process to participate in a nine-month leadership training program. Through a combination of study, field experience, and mentorship, class participants gain valuable political leadership training that prepare them to become more informed, active and mindful public servants. The inaugural class was recently honored at the Hoosier Women Forward’s annual spring reception held at the Tinker House in Indianapolis.
“I am excited to serve as the Executive Director of such a great organization,” said Levander. “As our first class year comes to an end, I am looking forward to being a part of the continued growth of this organization. I have benefitted greatly from strong female leaders who have taken the time to mentor me throughout my career and I believe Hoosier Women Forward will provide a strong network of female leaders throughout our state.”
Levander serves as Chair of Krieg DeVault’s Government Affairs and Public Advocacy Practice Group. She has over 20 years of government experience serving both the executive and legislative branches. Prior to joining Krieg DeVault’s Governmental Affairs team, she served as Governor Kernan and Governor O’Bannon’s Deputy Legislative Director. In that role, she negotiated legislation on behalf of the Governor with House and Senate Leadership, approved all agency legislation and made recommendations to the Governor. Prior to this role, she served three and a half years on the Indiana House of Representatives Democrat Staff.
