Krieg DeVault is pleased to announce that Mathew W. Norris has been named as the firm’s new Governmental Affairs and Public Advocacy Practice Chair. Norris takes over the position at the recommendation of Executive Director of Government Affairs Amy M. Levander, who has served in that role for the last 10 years. Levander remains full time with the firm and will continue to provide strategic governmental and advocacy services to the firm’s numerous governmental affairs clients.

Norris, both an attorney and registered lobbyist for the past 20 years, joined Krieg DeVault in 2016 and quickly gained the trust and confidence of the firm’s governmental affairs clients. He will now lead a team of talented professionals in one of the firm’s most robust practices, advocating at the state and federal levels for health care entities, trade associations, financial institutions, utilities, gaming entities, real estate organizations, and corporate clients of all sizes.

“I am honored for the opportunity to lead this exceptional group of professionals,” said Norris. “Amy has served as an exceptional leader to our team for many years. I am looking forward to maintaining our solid reputation and securing the results that our clients have come to expect from our team.”

“I am looking forward to continuing to work alongside Matt in his new leadership role,” said Levander. “He has been an integral part of our practice group for the past 8 years and I have the utmost respect in his ability to lead our team in the years ahead.”

Mathew W. Norris possesses extensive experience before the Indiana General Assembly and the state of Indiana’s administrative agencies representing a wide array of clients including global corporations, national and statewide trade associations, gaming entities, and local government entities. During his twenty years as a registered lobbyist, he has focused on issues ranging from state and local taxation, environmental concerns, alcoholic beverage matters, gaming, and general business issues.  Norris also advises clients on coalition building and general issues management, having directed dozens of grassroots and grass-tops coalitions at the state and federal levels.

Norris also serves as Public Policy Counsel to the Indiana Food and Fuel Association.  He is a committed community member, serving as the Pack 211 Leader with the Boy Scouts of America, and is a member of the Noblesville, Indiana Fire Merit Commission.
