The Indiana Lawyer Names Senior Associate Grant M. Achenbach a 2024 Up and Coming Lawyer

Krieg DeVault is pleased to announce that Senior Associate Grant M. Achenbach has been named a 2024 recipient of The Indiana Lawyer’s Leadership in Law Up and Coming Lawyer Award. Mr. Achenbach was among 15 Up and Coming Lawyer recipients honored during a breakfast reception at the Indiana Roof Ballroom on Thursday, May 30.
The Indiana Lawyer annually honors members of the legal profession who have shown a commitment to their peers and the clients they serve with the Leadership in Law Up and Coming Lawyer Award. As part of the selection criteria, each honoree was asked to answer a series of questions on topics including professional achievements, leadership in the legal industry, and community involvement.

Mr. Achenbach is an attorney and lobbyist in the firm’s Governmental Affairs and Public Advocacy Practice. He has extensive experience in the healthcare lobbying space. As a skilled tactician in the halls of the Indiana Statehouse, he uses his experience and extensive network of relationships with legislators and stakeholders to deliver value for the firm’s clients. Regardless of the subject matter, Mr. Achenbach’s work ethic and ability to clearly and concisely convey public policy goals has led to a consistent track record of success for the firm’s clients. In addition to healthcare, Mr. Achenbach also has experience with gaming, civil law, and cannabis issues, among others. His legal health care practice focuses primarily on regulatory matters relating to hospitals, physician groups, ambulatory surgical centers, and long-term care facilities. His connections with state agencies, officials, and payers rooted in his governmental affairs experience provides unique value propositions to clients as they seek to navigate Indiana’s legal and regulatory environment.
Mr. Achenbach routinely presents to organizations on health care and legislative topics. He is a member of the American Health Law Association, Governmental Affairs Society of Indiana, American Society of State Medical Association Counsel, and the Indianapolis Bar Association.
Prior to working at Krieg DeVault, Mr. Achenbach served as Director of Government Relations with the Indiana State Medical Association where he represented the interests of Indiana’s physicians and physician groups and was responsible for developing and implementing the ISMA’s yearly legislative agenda. Mr. Achenbach obtained his J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and is admitted to practice in Indiana.
