Gareth W. Kuhl Joins Krieg DeVault’s Public Finance & Municipal Law Practice

Krieg DeVault LLP is pleased to announce that attorney Gareth W. Kuhl has joined the firm as Of Counsel in its Public and Municipal Finance practice. Mr. Kuhl brings more than two decades of experience representing developers, public entities, housing authorities, investors, and financial partners in complex real estate and federally regulated tax incentive matters.
Mr. Kuhl’s practice focuses on real estate and federal income taxation with deep experience in affordable housing development and economic development projects utilizing a wide range of incentive structures. His work includes the Low‑Income Housing Tax Credit, Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit, New Markets Tax Credit, and other state and federal development programs. He has represented clients on more than 1,000 multifamily affordable housing developments across Indiana and numerous other states, as well as hundreds of commercial and mixed‑use transactions.
Mr. Kuhl’s experience spans work with for‑profit and nonprofit developers, municipalities, public housing authorities, property managers, lenders, and investors, offering strategic guidance on project structuring, compliance, incentive programs, and long‑term financing solutions. His addition strengthens the firm’s capabilities in delivering business‑focused counsel to clients engaged in real estate, community development, and public‑sector initiatives.
Before joining Krieg DeVault, Mr. Kuhl was a founding partner of Kuhl & Grant LLP, where he established and led a practice dedicated to affordable housing, community development, and tax‑incentivized real estate finance. His leadership in the firm reflected his longstanding commitment to delivering highly specialized, client‑focused legal counsel in complex development matters.
Mr. Kuhl earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School (1994) and his B.B.A., with high distinction, from the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business (1991). He is admitted to practice in Indiana and Michigan.
