Jeffrey C. McDermott Named President and CEO of The Center for the Performing Arts
August 29, 2017
Krieg DeVault is pleased to announce that long-time Partner Jeffrey C. McDermott has been named the new President and CEO of Carmel’s Center for the Performing Arts (“Center”). McDermott previously served as Interim President and CEO after then President and CEO Tania Castroverde Moskalenko left her position to establish her professional roots in Chicago.
McDermott, who has been with Krieg DeVault since 1986, will remain Senior Counsel with the firm. He has served Krieg DeVault in every level of its management over the past 31 years, including as a four-term member of the Firm's Executive Committee, the Chairman of its Litigation Practice Group, and the original Executive Partner of Krieg DeVault's Carmel Office, a role he continued to hold until his recent appointment. Since the beginning of his legal career, his practice has been devoted almost exclusively to litigation in both federal and state courts. He has represented major manufacturers in such matters as tobacco litigation, product liability cases, toxic tort litigation, and contract disputes.
McDermott has served on the board at the Center since 2010, a year prior to its opening. Since 2010 his professional roles at the Center have included Director for the Center, Chair of the Great American Songbook Foundation, a nonprofit founded by singer and Center artistic director Michael Feinstein, and most recently Interim President and CEO. He has also served on various committees including the Development Committee, Audit Committee, Finance Committee, Governance Committee and as its legal counsel. Additionally, McDermott has played an integral role in the establishment and planning of the annual Center for the Performing Arts Songbook Celebration event, of which Krieg DeVault is the presenting sponsor.
“We are delighted that this wonderful opportunity has been presented to Jeff,” said Deborah J. Daniels, Managing Partner at Krieg DeVault. “He is a true leader in every sense of the word. His dedication and commitment, leading him to perform well beyond the call of duty for the firm over the past 31 years, will serve the Center very well. We are particularly pleased that he will remain a member of the Krieg DeVault family in his role as Senior Counsel.”
“Krieg DeVault has been and will remain my family,” said McDermott. “The firm has been very supportive of my role at the Center the past 7 years, as well as my transition into my new role as President and CEO. Through my role as Senior Counsel, I look forward to being involved with the firm in the years ahead.”
